Whole Foods clerk: Donate or take off for your bag?
Customer: Oh, donate. Anything to do with animals.
Whole Foods clerk: I'm sorry, there's nothing for that this week.
Customer: Well then, I don't care.

Driptech in the Wall Street Journal
I'm two days late with this, but Driptech (the startup for which Whit works) was in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
They've been getting a lot of good press lately. Super exciting!

top this
This is Melissa.
Melissa has been my best friend since high school, and we have the sort of relationship in which we act absolutely ridonkulous around each other. She and her husband Andrew came up to Northern California this past weekend. Since I had to work, I couldn't spend as much time as I wanted with them, but these were the highlights.
Sharks versus Wild (Sharks won 4-3, but it should have been by more):

"I rather sing, bring, think, reminisce"
Public Enemy at Yoshi's San Francisco. WHAT.
Chuck D, Flavor Flav, and Professor Griff are in their FIFTIES, and yet still rocking the stage (especially Flav - switching it up among dancing, rapping, and playing drums and bass). The show played a little like a greatest hits compilation ("911 is A Joke," "Don't Believe the Hype," "Shut 'Em Down," "Welcome to the Terrordome," and "Fight the Power" were all included), but man. Such great energy, and I could listen to Chuck D talk all day.
One lesson learned: even though white people love hip hop, they still clap on the one and three.
And since it's MLK Day:

2011 Orange Bowl champions
The air here is full of speculation about where Andrew Luck and Jim Harbaugh will wind up next year. But for now, Stanford football has a 12-1 record, and it's fun to be a part of that.

"tell me how do you...refresh the page and restart the memory?"
I've had My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy on the repeat for almost 3 days. This cover story for Complex magazine describes the most bizarre and incredible musical process I have ever heard of.
